  3. Hopefully, you are all aware that a new maintenance release of
  4. NetWare Access is now shipping (version 1.01).  All users who sent
  5. in their warranty registration cards for NetWare Access 1.0 are
  6. being updated to NetWare Access 1.01 for free.  All registered users
  7. and Sales Offices should receive a copy by the end of this week
  8. via U.S. Mail.  For NetWare Access 1.0 users who did not send in
  9. their warranty registration cards and who want or need NetWare
  10. Access 1.01, they will have to call 1-800-UPDATE1.  There is a
  11. $50 fee for upgrading from 1.0 to 1.01.

  13. For your information, listed below are problems that have been
  14. corrected with Access 1.0.  There are no new features or functions
  15. in 1.01, merely fixes to reported problems.   Technical Support for
  16. NetWare Access is being handled by CPD's Technical Support (800-
  17. 221-6402).

  19. These problems have been resolved in Access 1.01.
  20.  
  21. Session hangs - In certain circumstances, a session would hang after
  22. a user performs an OFFLAN.  Also, sessions hanging on extremely
  23. active Access Servers has been corrected.
  24.  
  25. Broadcast - The NetWare "SEND" command would only be
  26. displayed on 6 sessions concurrently.  All Access Server session can
  27. now send and receive 25th line broadcast messages.
  28.  
  29. File handles -Some NetWare Access utilities running on the Access
  30. Server would not release file handles causing sessions to run out of
  31. resources.  File handles will now be properly released and
  32. recovered.
  33.  
  34. 3C503 adapter - The buffer segment size for IPX has been
  35. increased.  This will allow 15 sessions to run on an Access Server
  36. installed with a 3COM 3C503 adapter.
  37.  
  38. Reconnect timer - The timer will now close a session when set to
  39. "0".  Previously, the console operator was forced to reset the session
  40. manually.
  41.  
  42. Pause key - On certain 386 machines the pause key would cause the
  43. session to disconnect.  Remote users and Access Server console
  44. operators can now use the pause key properly.
  45.  
  46. Olivetti BIOS - Some AT&T machines incorrectly report the screen
  47. type in the BIOS data.  NetWare Access 1.01 corrects this problem.

  49. Encrypted passwords - For NetWare 386 users,  the Access Server
  50. now supports encrypted passwords.
  51.  
  52. Network errors -  The SIGNON procedure can now handle losing
  53. the connection to the file server.
  54.  
  55. OFFLAN from Menus - Running OFFLAN from a NetWare menu
  56. will perform a NetWare "LOGOUT" and disconnect the user from
  57. all attached file servers.
  58.  
  59. NASGEN - "File not found" messages will be correctly displayed.
  60. Also, port configuration and session start up files (ASTART.BAT)
  61. will be saved when modifying installation parameters.
  62.  
  63. LOGIN.EXE - Problems with search drives, COMSPEC, EXIT,
  64. END, and "UNABLE TO LOAD PROGRAM" have been fixed.

  66. Keyboard response -  Under certain cases, keyboard response would
  67. be degraded with version 1.0.  Multiple remote users connecting to
  68. an Access Server will now see a faster keyboard response.
  69.  
  70. TESTWNIM - Older releases would not report the total errors from
  71. all known WNIM+ adapters.  This fix will now allow the
  72. TESTWNIM program to run unattended.

  74. Expanded Memory applications - Are now limited to 400K of
  75. expanded memory.  Previously, EMM applications could acquire all
  76. the available memory limiting the number of available Access Server
  77. sessions.

  80. The following problems have been reported after the creation of
  81. version 1.01.  These problems are resolved and the software fixes
  82. will be placed on NETWIRE.

  84. ONFILE - File transfers aborting in the middle of large files has
  85. been resolved.
  86.  
  87. NetWare 3270 hot key -  When using the NetWare 3270 LAN
  88. Workstation Program on an Access Server, problems with the hot
  89. key have been resolved.

  91. Carrier loss - Sessions hanging due to carrier loss are now corrected
  92. and will be placed on NetWire.
  93.  
  94. Remote printing problems -  When printing large files to remote
  95. printers data would be lost.  A fix is implemented that provides
  96. better print handling and stricter flow control.
